Today I am going to talk about a natural cleanser that completely changed my opinion on how a good gentle cleanser should work. The cleansers I've used in the past all had three things in common - they were liquid, they lathered a lot, and they left my skin extremely dry (I even have oily skin!). The cleanser I am about to introduce you to is none of those things, and it is very effective and actually kind of fun to use.
Enzyme Cleansing Powder by Kosmetic Immunity is a new product that comes in a powder form, but turns to soft milky liquid when mixed with water. It cleanses and exfoliates at the same time, while also hydrating your skin and helping it regenerate.
One of the first things I noticed about this cleanser, is the very short list of ingredients. I am used to seeing many cleansing products that claim to be natural have long ingredients lists, and those usually comprised of substances I've never heard of. Enzyme cleansing powder has these few ingredients:
Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, mBeta Glucan, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Pollen Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Papain, Allantoin, Collagen, Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sorbitol, Titanium Dioxide, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA
I was also very happy to find out, all Kosmetic Immunity products are cruelty-free; they also do not contain parabems, ethanol oil, talc, mineral oil, and other nasties.
There is something to be said about their packaging. I've noticed that more and more companies are starting to offer powdered cleansers, and for some reason all of them are in jar packaging. I find this inconvenient, as you are not supposed to introduce water to the mixture, plus it seems it would be harder to dispense. I like that Kosmetic Immunity's packaging is a bottle with a neat dispenser.
The way the cleanser works, you pour about a pea size amount of powder into your palm, sprinkle some water on it, and rub your hands together to let the powder turn into liquid. You then massage your face gently for about 20 seconds to remove makeup, dirt, and oil built up. Then rinse with water. This cleanser is very gentle and won't leave your skin dry. It uses mBeta Glucan, a natural substance derived from plants and mushrooms, to help your skin regenerate and hydrate.
After having used this cleanser for three months, my skin looks smooth, hydrated, and bright. I've also noticed that I can go without a moisturizer after using this cleanser, which would have been impossible with other cleansers I've used.
